JULIAN CROSS, LEAD CLIMBING GUIDE
Julian started with the Institute as an Assistant Guide during summer 2015 and now is returning for his second season as a lead guide. Growing up in San Antonio, he took advantage of all the outdoor pursuits that the Hillcountry of central Texas had to offer. Julian was first exposed to mountaineering when he moved to Portland, Oregon in 2010 – climbing and skiing in the Cascades are his favorite hobbies. After graduating from Lewis & Clark College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies, he has been able to share his passion for the geography of the Cascade volcanoes as a guide with the Institute. With a Wilderness First Responder certification, Julian promotes safety and leadership in the backcountry. In his spare time Julian loves to backcountry ski, backpack, float the river or barbeque.
